The picture up there is, from left to right: me; my kid brother, Danny, who is nearly fourteen; my li’l sister, Missy, who is eleven; Jamie (agythiest), my lovely husband; and Motoko, who is laying in the perfect spot in the background, invading our photo op. xD

Danny, Missy, and their father visited us from the 20th until the 23rd, and we had a lot of fun.

Tuesday night, we went to the drive-in theatre nearby and saw the second half of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice (we didn’t end up watching it; we looked at the stars and hung out instead) and the new Karate Kid (which was amazing, btw.. it wasn’t really a remake, and had nothing to do with karate, but that made it all the better). It was super fun, even though Mike was in an awful mood and we got in around 2am, leaving us exhausted for the next day.

Wednesday, we got up around 10am and got ready to go visit Jamie’s mum at the hospital before her colon surgery. Unfortunately, we were missing something - my car key. Seems that it fell off of the key ring at the drive-in and I didn’t notice because it was dark. (Mike later procured it from the drive-in, and paid to get two copies of it made for us, since our copy’s plastic ring was busted, which was what led to the key getting lost to begin with.) So Mike brought us to the hospital, and they waited for a couple of hours while we saw Jamie’s mum and saw her off to surgery.

Then, we went out for Mexican food, which was all right, and headed over to try to see the Indian Village. It was under renovations, though, so we came back, and Danny and Missy came over to our place while Mike went back to the hotel for “coma-time” - a nice long nap. Jamie and I went swimming with the kids, which was lots of fun, and then had hot dogs, mac and cheese, and pink lemonade for dinner. Danny and Jamie bonded over retro Mario games, Missy played with Motoko (and squealed a lot when she thought Toki was going to attack her), and I read some of the seventh HP book. We then decided to walk down to the gas station. Mike met us on the road, picked us up, and we went out to DQ for ice cream. He dropped us off at home after and they went back to the hotel. However, I seem to have developed some minor lactose intolerance, so I fought back nausea and read more of my book until 2am.

Thursday, we got up at 8am, which I was not ready for. Mike picked us up, during which time we took the photos I have of their visit (we were too busy to take photos all the time, though Missy took some more on a camera Mike gave her), and we went to a cafe for breakfast (and cappuccino) and then visited Jamie’s mum in the ICU. She was doing really well, but was very medicated and sleepy, so we let her rest and left with Mike and the kids. They had found a kitten under the hospital, and since Mike promised Missy a kitten, he rescued the poor little thing (albeit screaming when it bit and scratched him, because he didn’t think it through and realize that it would -shifty eyes-) and brought it in a breathable fabric Walmart bag to a vet in Chickasha, who boarded it for the night, vaccinated it, washed it up, and fed/watered it.

We left for the rest of the day then, and went to Walmart to get supplies for them to get the kitten back in - a cat carrier, and a little water dish, and a couple little toys - as well as towels for the beach, which nobody had. Then we went to lunch at a barbecue place, which was pretty good but WAAAY overfilling. Then he took us all to Turner Falls for the rest of the day, where we walked FOREVER in the heat to get to a swimming hole by the Falls. The beach was awful, covered in sharp rocks, hot sand and burning hot cement at the top, and I burnt and cut up my feet a lot. The swimming was fun except for damaging my feet a lot on sharp rocks at the bottom. The four of us (all of us sans Mike) swam for a while, and Mike took a nap on a blanket on the beach.

Eventually, we got bored, and Missy woke up Mike. They went swimming, but Jamie, Danny and I were done, so we went up to see the castles. I got super overheated and dizzy, which wasn’t helped by my fear of heights, and the castles being up 72 very worn, rubble-covered stairs with unsteady railings. The castles themselves were cool, though, and the stone work was amazing. We went back and found Mike and Missy, and then we walked back. The water we brought with us was all warm by then, but we drank it anyway. Missy ran out when we got back, so she and Mike went to get more.. and came back with slushie things. Luckily, Missy shared hers with me; I was incredibly overheated and dizzy, and I guess I looked pretty bad because she shared a lot of hers with me, and ended up giving me the last bit of it to finish cooling off. I drank a ton of water as well, and felt a bit better.

We came back into town and went to a buffet place, where again, Jamie and I overate. Overeating for us is the same as eating for them, because we don’t usually eat three large meals, but five or so small meals throughout the day, so neither of us is used to eating that much at once anymore. But it was pretty good, and Jamie and I got IBC root beer, which is delicious. Then we came back to the apartment, and Mike took a nap on the floor while the kids and Jamie and I spent some time together and gathered up their belongings that they had left on Wednesday. Then they took off for a good night’s sleep before they left on Friday.

Friday, we slept in - we desperately needed it - and shortly after we got up, Danny called and told us that they were on their way home. The kitten was a boy, who Missy named Jude, and was not feral at all. He’s about eight weeks old, and Missy said that he’s very affectionate, loves being petted, and stayed happily on her lap during the ride home. It seems like they’ve bonded well, which I’m really glad for. Overall, it was a great visit and I was so glad to see them.

Here are the rest of the photos of all of us together, via Facebook.

So, that’s what’s been keeping me super busy. Now, the next obstacle - sorting out my medical bills (ughh) and, more pleasantly, getting ready for college! ^__^

So my little brother and I were playing the ‘Life’ boardgame…

And it came time to ‘get married’ and pick out another small plastic peg person to stick into the car beside your own small plastic peg person. I naturally picked out a blue person to be my husband, and went on to describe what he looked like and his pretend name and such. Well, my little brother looked at the pile of blue and pink peg persons for a minute, and all of a sudden grabbed a blue one and stuck it next to his own. He said “I don’t get why the pink is the girl and the blue is the boy. I like the blue, so I want a blue person beside mine.” As I looked at the two little blue peg people sitting in the little plastic car on the “Get Married!” space, I agreed that it shouldn’t matter either.

If only everyone else thought like a nine year old. You like what you like, and you shouldn’t judge anyone else for liking something different. You should get to marry whomever you want to, be they pink or blue.
